Snook hook up problems

Postby Jpclark » Thu Aug 03, 2017 5:44 pm

Hi Larry,
We are having a real tough time hooking up with snook on a particular lure.We have been throwing Zara puppy topwater walk the dog lures and they are hammering the heck out of it. Unfortunately they just will not hook up. We have taken off the small treble hooks and replaced them with single Owner hooks in the same weight Which is .24 g. Unfortunately it has not helped. We are an embarrassing three for 18 on the snook when using this plug. This lure is getting WAY more attention than anything else than we usually throw but it is not hooking the fish. PLEASE help! We are losing our minds.

That's a tough one to answer without actually witnessing the event. If you're feeling a tug before they get off, i'd go to different hooks for sure, if not maybe they're not really eating it or you're doing something really wrong on the hookset.
I'd try using larger hook in back, none in front, changing the cadence or speed of retrieve to see if it changes how they commit, just keep trying stuff until something works!
good luck
