Questions about Making Your Own Lures

Revisited the Big Dog fly. Still a work in progress of tinkering. Found the right rod in storage a shimano 8' swimbait rod fast action TC with 10 weight line on a 8 weight reel. Pretty light and rated up to 4 ozs. So in theory I could make 1/2oz fly and not over load the rod. If it breaks I just make it a two piece rod for travel. Also if the fly line glides like intermediate sinking line it will cause the fly to glide I think. The line is still moving even when it is at rest, causing the big dog to still move in whatever direction it was heading. Hope all is well with the Dalhberg Clan. Hopefully get some video at dawn.
