9” weedless swimbait body

Made a new 9” swimbait body

Swims really nice. I wish they made a 16/0 swimbait hook! 12/0 isn’t big enough so I’ve been doing some custom line thru rigs on them that seem to work pretty well.

those look great. I'm sure you can figure out a hook system.

A forged 15/0 or 20/0 hook would be cool. We need an video for hook making too.

Mike the Goop King Faupel gave me a swimbait hook he found years back. He was using it to rig his offspring design. Been searching high and low for them online with no success. It’s got to be a 17/0 swimbait hook. Has a 1.5oz keel. Break out the big rig, it’s 8oz when rigged with that hook

Hey guys, Gk sent me some of those monster hooks as well. Not sure where they came from. Maybe got them up at Randy Van Dam's store.
I will have to remember to ask him.

I’ve been playing with a modified screw rig for this bait. I crimp some 100# flex leader and add weigh, hooks, etc.. this time I pulled a loop through the barrel swivel and added a split ring and willow blade spinner. I have a recessed pocket on the chest of the bait, so when it’s swimming the weight tucks back into the pocket nicely. If one was so inclined to add or remove weight, just remove split ring and slip weight back out. At the end I crimped on a 150# fast clip so you can swap out hooks quickly. To keep everything tight to the belly I bait peg it with a couple . ” bait staples” (just wire I form in the shape of a staple to peg things in soft baits)

It swims great with this rig. The screw I use is a 1.75” centering pin keeper. It is awesome for anchoring into heavy soft baits. Mine is 5oz or so, was having a hard time getting regular sized keepers to stay put!
