Size of leader...

Postby Gaebler20 » Thu Apr 14, 2016 9:57 am

Larry, when you're fishing for big reds with the small wide glide and plopper, what size flouro leader were you using?? I'm thinking with 30lb. braid, I'll use the same if not 40lb...but will it affect the action of the small wide glide???

I have used up to 130 hard mono when fishing tarpon. Just be sure the leader is really straight. good trick for accomplishing that is to make a leader stretcher like guys use for tarpon flies. i.e. storing it under spring tension till you use it. good question! thanks.

You will lose some lures with 30 for the big ones, at Hatteras/Oakracoke with bait I rolled with nothing less than 60 for those big reds
