Balloon rig for live bait fishing

Postby Dan Hanon » Mon Jul 23, 2012 9:24 pm

Larry,

I saw one of your peacock bass shows several years ago, you were using balloons to float live bait in a lagoon. What is the best way to attach the balloon to the fishing line? I've tried various methods when I fish for flatheads, like rubber bands and various knots, but I just make this stuff up. What do you do? Also, I hear some peacock guides use plastic soda bottles for floats.

Thanks,

Dan

I just tie an overhand knot or two, sometimes use rubberbands. When you don't have any balloons plastic bottles attached with rubber bands or a short piece of line or floss do the job too.

Thanks,

I've been tying an overhand knot and sticking the balloon's knot through it.
