Revisit, hollow body collapsible frog

Larry,

I know that several years ago you made a hollow body collapsible frog. I know you rotomolded it or slush casted it.

I searched for it on this site and found a posting we did in 2012, but you were not part of it and we were unsure of the details.

Can you provide insights for us on how you did it, what materials you used, perhaps a video (I remember one but cannot find it)?

Thanks Larry.

Hi aK
That was along time back. As I recall I made a master out of skulpy and molded the frog out of flex30 rubber. Had a tube inserted perpendicularly at the butt through which I threaded skirt material. I'm pretty sure I molded the hook arrangement through a tube running the length of the lure.
It was pretty straight forward. THe past few weeks I've been experimenting with the Flex rubbers. I'm adding 5 grams of microballoons into 40 grams of flex30 and getting a pretty tough, and buoyant part. Buoyant enough for a popper or diver head! Obviously this has lots of applications, frog type lures included.
I'm really not sure where the video is located. Might be on the workshop video.
Hoping you're having a great 2018, sure appreciate your involvement and contributions to this forum!

Thanks Larry,
I am eager to hear how your experiments go. I played with the flex 30 several years ago and liked the potential, but I had too many other projects going on.

I have the workshop DVD; I will try to locate it and see if it was there.

Thanks again Larry,

Steve

Ive added up to twenty percent balloons by weight and had good results making bass sized popper and diver heads. tough, sets pretty fast, doesn't absorb water,..I am excited to try them on fish.

Aka or Larry, what style or manufacture of hook do you prefer? The double frog hook or one big single hook? I plan on making a muskie size weedless frog and Muskie plopper frog. I think I would prefer the single hook for really heavy cover and double for more open water.

OK, Larry is THE MAN for Musky sized fish, but, I prefer a single hook with the weight on it.
Something like the Megabite style hooks. http://www.lurepartsonline.com/Online-S ... Hooks.html

My reasoning is that a lot of hooks in that style are tougher, less prone to springing or straightening. I have had problems with double hooks on big fish in the past, so ........

YUP, for sure a large single. More weedless, better hook ups.
