Spinnerbaits

Hi Larry: This past January, spinnerbaits were the key in La Zona. In tackle preparation, I had some custom made spinnerbaits with the thickest wire I could find and with an eye attached to the head instead of a hook. Figuring the power of the dorado, I then attached a power swivel then a large single hook. Worked great. I did not see any significant decrease in fish hooked due to this. What in your opinion would be a disadvantage of a rotating single hook as opposed to a fixed single hook on a spinnerbait?
Thanks doradokiller. 8)

None unless keeping the lure somewhat snagless is an issue.

I heat shrink salt water hooks to homemade spinnerbaits. 1/2 to 2 ounce sinker tungsten, brass, etc. and 0.62 wire and skirt material, power swivel. The heat shrink hook keeps the spinnerbait weedless and flexes under stress of hooked fish in heavy current, the wire receives little to no damage. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzTI6 ... 2pXVExQN00
