Questions about Making Your Own Lures

Lure designs

Watched the Sweden pike video. Enjoyed the comments on control surfaces. I have been making bluegill style whopper plopper with 190 size tail the lure floats true, not on its side. The torque from the tail cause some of them to rotate on its side and some to spin 360 at higher speed, causing some serious line twist issues. The lure really look like sunfish in the water even had big largemouth explode on the pumpkinseed decal finish on a steady retrieve. What is best way to solve spinning? Thinking about adding lead suspend strips to front hook or belly lower center of gravity. Maybe adding swim bait style fins from bbz-1 fins to belly on each side to give the whopper some control surface in the front of lure. I kinda like the lure tracking on its side, looks like dying sunfish kicking for last breaths of life.

best way to counteract torque is with keel weight. Other issues can be related to friction, but typically the keel weight is the answer.
good luck,
