I've been making some small lead jig heads, and when it comes to painting them , I can't seem to get the paint to stick that good to the jig. Any recommendations on what type of paint to use on lead and how? Thanks

Most of the guys I know who are really into it use "powder paints". They're a dry powder that you dust onto the hot jig head. They make a very cool little "pot" that suspends the dust into which you suspend the hot jig head for a few seconds. Pull it out and voila, you have a super tough finish of about any color you wish.
I'm sure you can find it if you search a few of the fishing related do it your self websites like netcraft, barlows, mudhole etc.
best
