Hello everyone.

Before painting lures of rubber and/or resin using copic system, must the lures be cleaned and/or prepared with some product?
If so, which product to use on the lures of resin and which product to use on the rubber lures before painting with copic system?
Thanks in advance.

If anything, you can use alcohol to get rid of any residue or oils. Depending on the amount of softener, soft plastics can always be leeching a little.
With hard baits be sure the ink is totally dry. sometimes I use a hair dryer to speed it up when I've applied several layers.
With soft plastic, dipping in clear after painting will yield the best results.

Thanks, Larry.

I'll clean with alcohol soft plastic lures,
I paint them with Copic system and then, when it's all dry, I dip them in the clear.
For the resin / hard lures, I'll clean them with alcohol or solvent / mineral spirits.
I'll dry and clean well, I'll paint them using the Copic system, I'll dry with a hair dryer and then I'll put on them a couple of coats of clear epoxy.
What do you thing about,Larry ? It will work ?

Should work. Good luck. Be sure epoxy you use as clear coat does not contain alcohol or high amount of solvents.

Any of the better clear coat rod finishes. I've been using alumilite's ne UV. Just don't use 5 minute clear epoxy thinned with alcohol! Also better to dip and gently smooth with a soft brush. It's possible to smear if you are too aggressive with a brush.
Let us know how it works out for you!
