Hey Larry which markers do you use w/copic air brush & do they make a chartreuse color or does it have to be blended :?:

I use the larger square ones. They have so many colors it's mind boggling, plus you can get other effects by varying the background or base color. The green and yellow green flouros are pretty chartruesey, especially with a light green or yellow alumidust background.

Thanks Larry. Copic is a very unique system. I like the fact that you can change colors w/o having to empty out a jar or cup & clean out the nozzle.

Larry,

I'm looking into this as well. Do you use the Copic air compressor? Is the air hose compatible with other compressors? Thanks in advance.

I use my own compressor. Fittings are available that will allow you to use the same compressor as you use for other purposes.

We actually sell them and supply a quick disconnect fitting along with it. You can see it at the following link with the hose/fitting/etc: http://www.makelure.com/store/p/1065-Co ... ystem.aspx

Thanks Mike. Actually, I bought an air brush compressor from Harbor Frieght tools for $60 that works great and standard hose fit the Copic adapter can without any further modification. This is my first attempt, without any practice. It's not perfect but pretty good.

That is a great start.

I just started refilling my markers yesterday. Thank goodness for the refills. They are about the same cost as a single marker but you can fill the markers up between 8-12 times out of one refill. A couple of my colors ran out quicker than what I was expecting ... I guess I used them more than I thought.

Curious. Have either you or Larry found an alternative clear process that can be used to set the color on soft plastics? I currently dip in clear Alumisol with softener, but I still have lures get affected by stretching nearly half the time. A cold water bath helps but it poses it's own problems. I was thinking about looking into clear acrylic sprays, but wasn't sure how it would affect scent or lure action after it dries. Any info or tips would be helpful.

Thanks,

Robert

Hey guys! Long time, no post but I've been lurking some....

Larry, from what I see, the Copic air system looks like a great tool for adding colors but my question is this..... will it work on metal (lead), hard plastic (clear crankbait bodies), or over powder coated paints? I'd much rather use this system that invest in an airbrush....

Thanks in advance!

copic uses transparent ink so it has limitations, like no painting light over dark. You can paint a shiny jig head brown blue, red or green, but yellow would be hard. White is non-existent.
But, I must admit I find myself using it more than my standard air brush just cause it is so quick and simple.

If bleeding occurs it's usually because the layer of ink is a bit thick and/or it's not dried long enough. gentle heat at around 200 degrees will help speed the process.
sorry to hear you're bleeding!
