Postby Mike - Alumilite » Thu Apr 09, 2015 8:44 am

Hello All,

Wanted to thank everyone for their requests on video tutorials and let you know we just posted a how to on making the 5 piece mold that was used in Larry's Advanced Whiggley video. In this video, I also offer a quick explanation of how we used 3D printing to create the original molds that Larry used as well as how one would go about making this type of mold if they wanted to do it by hand.

Mix it the same but maybe just use a disposable brush and brush the first coat on just to make sure you have good surface coverage of the master with the Plat 55 because it is thicker and you'd like to avoid any air bubbles sticking to your part when pouring the rubber. Once you've coated the master, the air isn't able to hang on to the master and ends up floating away from your part, leaving you a clean mold surface. You can also use Quick Set as it is firm like the Plat 55 and is much thinner however it doesn't have the tear strength the Plat 55 has.
