Questions about Making Your Own Lures

making ur resin bait slow sink

Postby eatsleepswimbait » Sat Feb 14, 2015 2:12 pm

I cant seem to get it right and would like to ask the experts. As with the inclusion of mucro ballons what is best amount to start with. With limited resources, i would like to not have too many errors. Since it is 50/50 would it be better to start at half of the 100% amt of ballons or 75% of the 100% as there would need to have alot of weight if ballons are at 100% of the 50/50 ratio. Thanks in advance very much appreciated

Without hardware ... wire, hooks, split rings, etc ... here is a rule of thumb:

0% Microballoons ... slow to medium sink rate
30-35% Microballoons ... neutrally buoyant ... suspending
50% microballoons ... floats
100% microballoons ... floats but also jumps to the top much more rapidly

Design of lure shape will also have some effect but this should give you some starting points.
