Alumasol / stabilizer Q

Postby Shaane » Sat Jan 10, 2015 9:54 pm

How much stabilizer should be added to 400ml of virgin alumasol? My first attempt at a crystal clear product ended up looking like honey. I am sure I added too much.

Most likely heated it too fast or too hot. Those are the problems I have with Virgin Plastisol products when I want a water clear result. Mike and/or Larry will probably chime in soon.
I think my bucket list has a hole in the bottom!

I wouldn't worry about adding heat stabilizer until you've baked that Alumisol a few times. If you want crystal clear plastic, just do the straight up Alumisol without any additives. It's good to go for 2-3 zaps in the microwave before discoloration happens as long as you heat it relatively slowly.
