Larry,

What gauge brass wire are you using in your general applications? Have you had any tensile strength issues?

Does the soft wire run the risk of straightening out when a big fish goes crazy?

size of wire depends on size of lure. never any issues with failure. The size of loop or eye has a lot to do with how "bendable" it is.
You'll see 3 sizes in the makelure site. The smallest (.035) i'd use for bass sized cranks, minnow lures etc, Medium (.045) for lures in the 3/4-1 1/2 oz size, and the largest (.057) size for stuff bigger than that.
Obviously tuning is the reason for brass, plus it's much easier to work with when forming a wire thru type harness.
good luck,
L
