Alumifoam Cure Time

Postby Dman75 » Fri Jun 27, 2014 6:10 am

I have some alumifoam that I am making some crankbaits out of but am having issues with it to some degree. I molded a crankbait and then added an epoxy sealer coat and it had many bubbles after drying. I did not wait long from the time I molded the bait until I applied the epoxy (1 hr). Should I let the bait sit for a certain period of time before sealing? It seems that it "off gasses" for a period of time. Is this correct?

Thanks

It will help to heat the mold, stir the foam as long as you dare, let set up until rock hard. I test it in the mixing cup with a screwdriver. I let it sit until there is no sponginess whatsoever and glass hard on the surface.
I'm sure you have correctly diagnosed your problem.
