The Hunt For Big Fish with Larry Dahlberg

Made a really nice crankbait and was wondering if Anyone has a trick or two for making two exact halves for a two part mold. Ive carved and sanded my butt off but still the positive is off on on side. Dont want to spend a bundle on cad or something. Any thoughts? Thanks.

That's a good question, and one most of us have had issues with when making lure that aren't turned on a lathe. There are several methods, but none are perfect. One is to make "stencils" of the profile. One top view and one side view. keep sanding until it fits.
Another way is to use calipers, but remember to mark your centerlines both top and bottom so you have a reference.

This could be stupid but was thinking about cutting the master in half, vaccuforming it, then lightly apply heat and pressure to pop it inside out.

It's certainly worth a try!
