The Hunt For Big Fish with Larry Dahlberg

I had three questions about your lure.
1. What product did you use for your wolffish poppers?
2..How many parts of microballoons did you use to keep it boyant?
3.Does this material bond well to metals or plastics? I thinking of making a slip through design, but need a smooth interior tube.

The best and easiest solution if alumafoam. I use a slim straw, like the kind they use to stir coffee at the coffee bar in your local gas station. the stuff sticks very well to all the other alumilite products. In fact, just yesterday we shot a "workshop" segment and made a slightly larger popper with a "hole thru" design.
I used about an ounce of regular super plastic for the bottom, and foam for the top.

Thanks for the alternative. I fish for snakeheads in the potomac and they DESTROY bass lures and have pretty hard mouths. Sounds like an awesome show. Do you think alumofoam would be Dorado proof? I'm planning a trip(like in 4 years) to La Zona.

Not sure about the largest dorado. Lots would depend on size and shape of lure. Bubble trail type, high speed alumifoam head followed by a skirt and strong single hook would be excellent.
I'd make some over sized, shallow running bomber model A type lures out of super plastic/micro beads for when the dam kicks in, the water level rises and the super giants go up in the hugge shallow boulders on the argentine side to eat the adult sabalos.
Also resin "jig" heads 2-4 oz with flashabou skirts for long cast and burn.
Bullet head, long cast buzzer of some kind. suggest 6"-8" in length.

Thanks for the Ideas. Thinking about making an inline prop bait with a line through design, with the prop 1/3 from the front. Donno if one hookat the end would be ok placement or if a prop bait could function with the prop in the front.

I think your concept is solid. I would go with a buzz type blade rather than a standard prop.
Without a doubt the two big triggers for these guys is speed and disturbance.

Good input. Blades cause less drag so they are better in front. Now ive got some plans to draw up. Hope you get the chance to do some winter musky fishing in Dixieland. The New River has been amazing. We've just got to teach the bass anglers to stop keeping 40in "Trophies" and convince them to get a replica instead.
