Hard swimbait hardware??

Jumping into making segmented swimbaits out of resin, I am going to use the screw eyes on one segment tying them into a small rod in the other. Where do i find the steel rod. A swimbait that i do have is put together this way. The rod looks to be as thick as 16ga wire but i need an outlet i can order from. I am assuming i need stainless steel? Thanks

I get my brass or stainless steel straight rods/wire in that size at several Hardware stores, or at Hobby Lobby.

Often the materials comes in a display with wire sizes down to super small sizes as well. You can also find it on line.
