Guys, let them get it right.

Mike and Larry, I will admit I am going through struggles waiting, but having experienced some issues from a different UV product, I can wait.

The pictures of the above show shrinkage of the lure. Only a few lures I have done ever experienced this. I make all lures of this type with Alumilite White as a bottom and shell, with Alumilite Foam for the top, then prime and paint using acrylic paint. I paint with acrylic paint then .....

These lures were dipped in Solar Res, hung to drip, and then cured. They were just fine for 6 months, then I went to use them and ..... shrinkage.

The only lures that had shrinkage were the ones that I dipped and hung. The ones I painted with the clear coat and then cured were fine. I suspect that it might be due to thick resin not getting cured completely through in time, or at all, and existing solvent did the dirty trick.

In summary, I suggest that we let Mike and Larry get it right. Trust me, the time lost making lures that won't swim right in 6 months is not as bad as wondering how many other people you gave lures to might have the same problem.

Yes, the first round of samples have gone out to a few individual testers that have specific applications and experience with coatings. Waiting for responses/feedback.

Hey guys, I am a lucky guy. Mike sent me a small sample to test for him, and while my testing is ongoing, I am impressed. So I don't repeat myself, some of what I did is mentioned in the following thread....

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27383

I did other test, like taking the thick but cold Alumilite UV cure and zapping about 5 ml in a microwave for about 5 seconds. It thinned out very well and was super nice. Still, in a few days I expect to get back to more testing. I expect that I am not the only tester, so for now I guess the responsibility rest with those of us that are testing the material.

My initial report is                8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Thanks for bringing this post back up to the top. Been fighting an ever so slight surface issue with the cure when using different lights. Every time we think have addressed it, it shows up again. The trick to this system is being able to use it and have it cure quickly with a variety of "inexpensive" ($35-$200) light sources. Really want to dial it in perfectly before releasing it. So I apologize for the delay but it is very important to us to put out a very user friendly system the first time with as few limitations as possible.

How is it As far as fish eyes and such, like with envirotex. Im sure u need multiple coats to get the same protection so thats not an issue. Im having a problem with envirotex throwing my action off on my resin muskie crankbaits so i did a few in auto clear and it worked but after one trip they get beat up good. I hope this stuff is a happy medium. Do you feel this will be an alternative for production baits or more for the hobby bait maker? Does it bond better with certain materials? Thanks fellas.

It is out and going good. You can get it on the Alumilite site, and should soon be able to get it on Makelure.com.
