More questions "clear coating"

Postby Shaane » Tue Mar 26, 2013 12:48 pm

After the lure ( Whigley) is poured and ready to clear coat with alumasol. Do you add as much softener to the clear coat mix as you did for pouring the bait? Do you really thin it down more? I assume clear coating with straight alumasol will stiffen and hinder its ability to snake through the water. Thanks

I use pretty much the same mix for clear coat as for the bait. Appx 5 to 1.

The other option is to just wave a heat gun over the lure to fuse the Alumidust into the lure without having to redip. Either way works and it depends on the type of look you are going for.
