Questions about Making Your Own Lures

balsa or other wood baits

Postby muskiehunter641 » Tue Nov 20, 2012 12:08 am

I have been making balsa baits for quite some time but I do have one question. I have searched the internet for quite some time now and found nothing. What is the coating or epoxy used by companies to make balsa baits more durable?

All of the original "balsa" carvers I know use the same epoxies rod builders use to finish the threads. Nowadays Flex coat or envirotex. Back in the "Big O" days it was petit marine epoxy part 4027/4028.
