Help with through wires

Postby Bluebass » Fri Jun 01, 2012 7:08 am

I am trying to make a Big Mac because they are not in production anymore. I am having trouble getting the wire correct in the bill and also where the hooks attach. Does anyone have a trick or two.

Just make a simple jig on a two by six with pins where the hooks and eyes belong. You can position the original on the board and insert the pins exactly whre they are supposed to be. Then, using brass wire rather than stainless (brass is plenty strong but easy to bend both for original shaping and for tuning later) simple form the wire around your jig, then insert it in the mold.

How will the brass hold up in the saltwater. I troll these lures for bluefish and bass in long island sound. I'm not worried about the strength. But will they last? As you know saltwater is a killer on EVERYTHING.
