1st post and questions about Alumidust

Hi yall, I need some intel.

With the Alumidust, do you HAVE TO dip the bait for the color to stay?

Question #2: Will the product work in a.) an aluminum mold, and b.) an injection mold?

Don't need to dip it for the color to stay, but it greatly intensifies the colors.
I've used it in aluminum and it worked fine. Have to make sure you use a very soft bristled brush. Never tried injection.

My concern with trying in a hand injection mold, is whether or not the pressure of the plastisol going in would push the Alumidust to the back of the cavity.

I don't think you will have a problem with that. The dust is really fine and only needs to be applied in a very thin layer. In fact if you dust it on a mold, then blow it off the mold will still have a fine layer on it.

I have used the dust for hard baits using Alumidust. I did not need to coat it with clear, but the color sure came to life when I clear coated it with Epoxy.

I have used the dust for soft baits using Alumisol, and like Larry says, it becomes a part of the plastic, it will not come off. Still, clear coating with clear alumidust made the color jump out.

I tried to clean the dust off an RTV mold and change colors (experiment). Guess what, the old color showed up as much as the new color. I have not tried i on any mold other then RTVs, but injection will not cause it to migrate.

Thank you for the responses. I am wanting a more "subdued", matte finish on some swimbaits. The Alumidust may just be the ticket. As far as getting the dust out of the molds, Larry, do you have any suggestions?

Just wipe the mold with a soft cloth little liquid. Water will work but silicone oil is the best.
If you've been messing with lures for a while you will be very pleased with Alumidust. It's a game changer in my book.
