Mike, here's another High Strength 3 question....

Postby BassinK9 » Mon Mar 19, 2012 10:32 am

Just wondering if I could take my useless mold (from my previous post), cut out the cavities, and repour using a new, small batch of HS3 in order to save material?

Wouldn't the new silicone bond to the older stuff? Just askin'....

Thanks!

I am not Mike, but, I can imagine conditions where that would work.
I think my bucket list has a hole in the bottom!

Yes it will work however you have to make sure the air bubbles have somewhere to go to escape and pop or they will get trapped in your mold again ... so make sure the top is open and your mold is fixed and can't float.

Another thing people do is to cut up into small chunks there old mold and once the orginal is covered in new rubber they pour in the cut up pieces to be encapsulated and take up space in the new pour. This works really good in unused corners of the mold box as well as for parts with elevation changes that require a lot of volume.
