How to thru wire a hard bait

Postby GMan » Wed Mar 14, 2012 6:08 pm

When making a hard bait, and making it thru wire, do you put the brass wire in the original model when making the original mold (two part mold) or can you make the mold without and then push the wire into the mold before pouring the plastic? If the later, is it hard to force the wire into the mold so it hook hangers stick out the bottom of the bait properly? It seems pretty pliable. Thanks.

I drill small holes where the hook hangers are supposed to be, then bend a short piece of brass and insert it in my skulpy master. When the mold is poured that leaves room for the hangers.
When I pour a "finished bait" I insert my thru wire harness in the mold, with the bends all in the proper place (I make a jig with pins sticking up for all the hook hangers and connection point) that matches the master.
good luck!
