Questions about Making Your Own Lures

PVC Soft Plastic

Postby Jake Reaves » Fri Feb 03, 2012 12:25 pm

Hey guys,
I've never really messed with lure making but recently found a bait that is no longer made and I'm looking to copy it. It is a soft plastic (I think made from PVC) swim bait that I use for large speckled trout in Texas. It's got a "wedge" type tail that puts off a bunch of vibration and is about 4" in length. I've got one left which I think is in good condition to make a mold from. My main question is does anyone have any info on where to buy this PVC soft plastic material. It seems to be alot harder material than what is used for Mr. Whiggley. I would post a picture of the bait but can't figure out how to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a bunch!

My guess is that it's a material similar to Alumisol but with hardner added instead of softner like I do for whiggley.
you could post a pic of it on makelure.com and ask about how to mold it.
