Questions about Making Your Own Lures

Plastic used to make legs on Dahlberg Frog

Postby daddy.bob » Thu Jan 31, 2013 7:19 pm

I have been wondering what kind of soft plastic is used to make those tough, stretchy, lures. I am thinking about the legs on the Dahlberg Diveing Frog, and other soft plastic lures I have seen in the past. I would like to get some to experiment with on my own designs. Is this stuff an Alumisol product? Where can I get some? Do I heat and mix it like I would plastisol? Have any other forum users played with this stuff?

I may very well be wrong, but I seem to recall Larry commenting on a post a year or so ago that the frog leg material was not available to the home lure maker.

Perhaps that has changed, but ....... I don't think so.
I think my bucket list has a hole in the bottom!

The legs on the diver frog were made of a material not yet available to the home pourer.

Tank you for the fast reply to my question. It saved me from wasteing time, looking for goop that is not yet available. Thats a shame however, it sure would help us make more durable lures.

There is hope - Larry said it is "not YET" available to the home market...

Any chance the Whiggley will be made from this material or something similar?
