After reading Micks (Firepower) idea on FB to make a rabbit fur bedspread, I was thinking of doing something similar. Do I just chuck them in salt water for a few days then beat them until supple!

Or is there another way?

Just I will be out tonight on the local Golf course that is over-run with the blighters, so should have a few

Probably best if you shoot them first, or the RSPCA might want a word.

LOL - somewhat cheeper rabbit skins, already skinned, can be obtained from Tandy Leather. I hope that helps; they whole skins.

As for preparing the skins, salt water will not work well. You can get home tanning chemicals or, if you really want to, you can rub the brain of the rabbit over the skin side (not the hair) and that will tan the hide. One brain will do one hide. This is "NOT MY FAVORITE WAY" and I don't tan skins anymore, but.................. you asked.
I think my bucket list has a hole in the bottom!
