All of your great tutorials sure speed up the learning curve. Thank you!

I recently jumped in to molding baits and poured my first casts this am.

I am running urethan RTV as it's cheaper for the proto's. I will be switching to some better molding compound soon but this is cheaper when you make rookie mistakes like not shaking the catalyst.

Here is my master coming out of the finished mold:

Here is the first cast piece:

Tails glued in and sectioned:

First slow sink proto assembled and ready for testing:

I normally test my baits in the pool but I am going to throw this thing in front of a fat split tail eating striper tomorrow :)

Very nice looking work. How did it swim for you, and even more important, how was the fishing?
I think my bucket list has a hole in the bottom!

Please let us know how your first castings turned out ... how did it swim? ... how did you weight it? ... where are you fishing it? ... and for what?

Keep us up to date with the progression. It looks really good.

The first castings came out decent. Unfortunately I got a few bubbles in the mold. I am going to clean them up when I mold the sections. For now I am just drilling and gluing in the ballast but have a few ideas to play with when I mold the sections.

I fish the Ca delta and stuck this 27# PB on my first proto.

First castings came out fairly well. I need to clean them up as I got a few bobbles in the mold but It swims nice. I am just pouring a one piece bait for now and cutting straight joints on the bandsaw. I designed this bait for a specific location and it worked perfectly and I land a new PB striped bass on it at 27#s

Went out testing some prototypes made from my mold (2 piece glide and a 3 piece) the fish liked both.

here is a picture of the glide bait.

Landed 2 on the glide (est 12 &15lbs) but still lost about 3. Time to build a new one with embedded swivels.

12lber smoked it.
