Cozumel Mexico Marlin Fishing

Postby Gmac51295 » Mon May 23, 2011 10:02 pm

Larry,

I am going on a Blue Marlin fishing trip in Cozumel Mexico and am thinking of bringing green and yellow (Dorado) colored poppers and top water baits that make a decent bubble trail. If you recommend any other color variations or baits that would be effective I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Griffin

Hi G
Not sure what you mean about poppers, but trolling skirted heads at around 8 knots is usually the best tactic for blues.
Personally, I like to troll softheaded, hookless teasers with a strip of belly meat sewed in, then do a bait and switch with a pitch bait of some kind with a circle hook in it.
Check out Tracy Melton's catalog on line.
best,
L
