King Mackerel Topsail Island

Postby rmcallaway » Tue May 10, 2011 12:10 pm

Has any heard about the 30 lb King Mackerel taken from the surf at Topsail Island NC? I only post this because of the rarity of such an event - I don't know the whole story or who the angler is, however - here's a link to East Coast Sport facebook page.

Makes me wish I was fishing... Oh well, I leave for Emerald Isle on Sunday.

I've read that the angler who caught the King Mackerel in the surf was shark fishing using a live Spot for bait.

theres a guy called angelo depaola also known as the kingfish king, has over 500 verified catches. he is there every day at the jolly roger pier, local legend and yes, 30lbs plus. you can see him on facebook under jolly roger inn and pier.
