This is an old school technique: smooth out some thin gold or silver foil, which sometimes is used to wrap chocolate bars. Cut it to size, then glue it to your lure. It's not as pretty as a factory bait, but it does work. There are also fly tying materials which can be applied to a lure. Burnishing smooths it out while the glue is still tacky.

I have seen some spraypaint that may work for you at the hardware store. If you airbrush, you could check out some airbrush paint companies. I have seen a couple videos on youtube about the foil like Questor said. I know there is gold leaf, is there such a thing as silver leaf.
