The Hunt For Big Fish with Larry Dahlberg

ive been looking for a surf rod for quite a while and a few guys have tried to help me, some say i need a 10 footer with 2-6 lure rating, other guys hav told me that all you need is a 7 or 8 footer that can throw 3 oz. i've see guys haul halibut and stripers onto the beach and they throw plugs and swimbaits all day. is there any rod to mesh these two methods into one rod? something thats light with backbone and can throw far enough?

I have a Shimano Trevala that fits that description. It is only a 7 footer, but it is sensitive enough to throw a 1/2 oz swimbait and is rated for 6 oz. butterfly jigs. It wont break your bank either......
