Larry Dahlberg 10-12wt Fly Rod

Postby BajaFly » Sun Apr 08, 2007 7:08 pm

Hi Larry;
I just inherited a 9' 10-12wt Larry Dahlberg fly rod and can't find any info on it on the internet. I was told it was bought at the Bass Pro saltwater shop. I need a recomendation for line. I don't know how fast this rod is.
I fish for Kings on the Sacramento, Roosters in Bahia De Los Muertos, Dorado in Santa Rosalia, and Stripers anywhere I can find them. Currently, I use a Tibor Gulfstream and a Orvis 10/11 Spey Reel with RIO 9/10wt Long Cast, and/or 25' T14 shooting head on top of 100lb Spiderwire Stealth running line among others. **I use 100lb stealth with a 50 twist bimini pushed inside a John Quigs braided loop as the connection so the line doesn't dig to the reel on long salmon runs. Casts like a rocket when double haulin...
I really need something to cut through constant onshore breeze in California and along the Sea of Cortez. RIO 9wt longcast won't cut it and I don't want to scare all the fish away with tarpon line. Any thoughts on this would be helpful.
Buying line is like buying rods before casting them.

Hi BF,
That's a pretty stiff rod.
For what you're doing a 11 head sounds like the ticket.
best,
