First Homemade Swimbait

Postby Grandpa21 » Wed Jul 29, 2009 1:53 pm

With the help of Larry's guidance and all his help finding the right products and materials I have finally created my first homemade swimbait. I used a Rapala X-Rap as my master, did the through wire construction w/ .055 stainless music wire, and used Larry's method of pouring a top section/layer using micro-balloons. It ended up being 2 1/4 oz and I think i'll be able to toss it a mile not to mention it's solid as a rock and will no doubt stand up to some pelagic punishment. Just wanted to say thanks for all the guidance Larry and taking the time to make such a great video and sharing your techniques, I can't wait to start making my own variations now that I have been through the basic processes. Here's a link to some pics.

Here a pic of the finished product:

Had a little trouble laying down the reflective tape without it creasing due to the shape of the lure. Have a few ideas on how to fix this next time. I think I'm going to get some of the metallic powder and see how that goes too.
