Panama in November?

Postby Grandpa21 » Wed Jul 22, 2009 9:44 am

Larry,

I have an opportunity to fish the pacific side of panama in the end of November for a very reasonable price. I have heard, although it is the end, that this is the rainy season and the offshore fishing is generally not as good as some of the other months. I'm just wondering what your experience or knowledge is of this fishery during this time of the year and if it would be worth the trip. Knowing a bit about the fishery there I think the inshore fishery is pretty good year round, therefore there are different options if the offshore fishery is not producing well. We will mainly be hoping to target species with light tackle using surface poppers and swimbaits, fly, and vertical jigs.

Thanks,

Ryan

I'd go for it. Especially if you can get out to the continental shelf which is 25-30 miles out from the coastline.
I'm sure you'll do fine inshore, just be sure you have good electronics and the gear you need for catching and fishing with live bait as well as lures etc.
good luck,
L
