Flyline/backing for Sailfish

Postby longcasts » Thu Apr 16, 2009 9:13 am

Larry, I'm still gearing up for sailfish in the Sea of Cortez this July. I am using 50 lb. Power Pro for my backing; but have been told I need 200' of mono between my flyline and Power Pro. What do you recommend? And if you do using the mono system what knot do you use between mono/power pro and mono/flyline. If you don't use the mono system, what is your choice of know betwix power pro and flyline. Thanks, Bob

Hi LC
I've always gone straight from flyline to backing with no mono in between. I usually use a uni to uni, stripping the coating off the flyline to give me enough to make the knot. can coat with thin urethane or similar you wish. I don't and it's never been a problem. Pretty simple!
Good luck, have fun!
best,
L
