Calcutta TE vs. Curado 300E

Postby Floridaboy3 » Thu Mar 19, 2009 10:41 am

Since my last post I.ve been doing some reel shopping for a snook and small tarpon casting reel. I,m settiling on the new calcutta TE 200 or the Curado 300E. But while shopping I was informeds that the curado doesn,t do well with lures under 3/4oz. I could use some input from everyone before I make my decission.

Hi FB
That's news to me! In my experience, the Curado 300E casts as well with light lures as the Calcutta.
best,

I have to agree with Larry. I have thrown some really light lures with my Curado 300 and it performed much better than I expected. If you are planning on throwing lures around 1/8 ounce then yes I would go with the CTE200GT or a Curado 200E7 because of the lighter spool.

I don't know where you got that information but it is totally out of the park. I and my son both have two of the new Curados and they will easily handle 3/8 ounce spoons or 1 ounce plugs. If I ever get to go back to the Keys I will definitely bring my gear and won't be afraid to try-on a tarpon with my curado's.
