Line suggestions for my Stradic 2500 FgMa

Hey Larry Dalhberg, I'm a big fan of your show, absolutley loved the Golden Durado footage from Paraguay. I wanted to see if you could recommend a better line for my stradic spinning reel. I have it paired with a Shimano Clarus 9 footer rated 6-12# line. I have been casting into small stream estuaries for feeding king salmon up here in Juneau, AK. In side by side tests, using heavier line, my Curado200/Clarus8.5 footer (rated 6-12#) casts way further using the same lure size/weight than the Stradic combo (and they're both rated for the same throwing weight). I have been using 10-12# mono on these combos. I'm staying within the casting weight recommendations using 2/5-3/4 oz spoons mostly. I guess I just figured that the spinning reel should be able to cast just as far. Open to suggestions from anyone. Thanks
Spoonin' ain't easy!

hi T
hmm. that's an intriguing question. I'd check a couple of things.
1) be sure the spool is filled to max capacity
2) check for excessive line slap between the reel and the first guide. sometimes changing the distance and or diameter of the first guide can make a big difference.
best,
L
