Cape Cod canal

Postby RhettWheeler » Sat Jul 14, 2018 1:41 pm

Hey Larry,
Hope all is well with you. I was curious to see if you’ve had a chance to fish the canal for striped bass?
Thanks
Rhett

Yeah I live less than 20 minutes away from it now.. It’s a complicated but fun place to fish. Not at all uncommon to get 40+” stripers. Tons of current, rocks, and boat wakes to contend with- not to mention can be tough to get good footing. As with most saltwater spots it’s all about the tide there.

Have you heard of anyone using the whopper plopper for stripers? I think it could potentially do really well in the canal- because casting distance can be the different between getting bit or not.

Yes, lots of stripers being caught on ploppers. All sizes of ploppers, the new fatboy should be excellent when they are on smaller bait.

Great I’ll give them a shot- ordered one in the 190 and 130 sizes. I’ll post a pic if I get anything .
