Heading to Belize with the family in August. Will have time for a one day guide trip, but wanted to know about Tarpon from shore.

We have a choice of Ambergris Caye, Hopkins or Placencia. Any thoughts on which would offer decent shore based tarpon opportunities would be welcomed.

Thanks

The only place I've seen people catch them from shore is right in the belize river near Belize city. Not familiar enough with the country to give you any inside insight! Been many many years since I was there. Have a great trip.
best,

We spent a few days in the jungle then went to Ambergris Caye. Went out with a guide one day and hooked 8 small tarpon and landed 5 (20-35lbs). There were shore based opportunities for small bone fish, barracuda, snook and an occasional Jack Crevalle. I did find a few tarpon at night along lighted docks. We were staying near San Pedro. Nice place for the family with plenty of fishing opportunities.
