Mudhole rods

Postby Cal » Sun Mar 15, 2015 12:41 pm

Larry,

I have been given a special dispensation by the War Department to have a custom rod made. I've got a very good craftsman ready to go, and I'm looking for a good blank to order. I want a 7' baitcasting rod, heavy action with a fast tip for walking 3/4 to 7/8th ounce topwaters. I really like the G.Loomis Bronzeback 814, but they're only 6'8. Do you have any recommendations for a Mudhole blank?

I'm sure they've got something that will be great, either as is or trimmed, but there are so many and to really know what's what, a person has to have the blank in hand. I'd give the mudhole guys a call and see what they suggest. They could do a few deflections and see what's the closest stiffness to weight ratio, action and length and go from there.
Hope you catch some big ones on your new rod !
best,
L

As Erwin Rommel said when Patton's 3rd Army broke the lines in Luxembourg: "Many tanks!"
