Saltwater Bulldog?

Larry,

I've been brainstorming over a lure idea with GPM. I want to make a shad-bodied gliding topwater. In the course of the discussion he asked me if I wanted to put a tail on it, a la Bull Dawg, and it got me thinking...

How would a speckled trout or redfish react to a 3 to 4 inch bulldawg-style lure? Salt Dawg is already a lure name, so we'd have to name it something else...

Tackle Industries is making a lure like that called the LIL-D. You can check them out at: http://www.tackleindustries.com/swimbaitstubes.html

James (the owner) had a pile of them at the Chicago Musky Show and they sold out. He's got more on the way.

Actually the small dawgs have been around quite a while. I've got a bunch I got back in the late 80's or early ninties when I worked at InFisherman.
I think the larger dawgs will crush cobia, but I wouldn't hold my breath on the other species you mention with the smaller ones.. but you never know until you give it a shot!
