Questions about Saltwater Fishing

Wideglide

Hi Larry,

I hope that you are doing well.

My catfishing season wasn't all that great this year except for a few early May trips where I absolutely hammered 'em. On my first trip out I caught 14. Six flatheads ranging from 15-50lbs and channels up to around 18#.

Anyway, I decided to mix it up a bit and am heading to Islamorada the week after Thanksgiving. I stopped by Blue Ribbon last night and picked up a Wideglide in the larger size (they are out of the 120's). I know that the smaller version may work better on Tarpon and other inshore critters but am wondering if you have had any success in the salt with the 200 size... I am heading offshore with a guide I know down there and figure there's got to be something swimming out there that is willing to hammer it. I am also wondering if I should use a wire leader due to cudas and the like. Thanks!

Hi CFP
We've done very well on cobia, tuna, sharks and a couple weeks ago just crushed big redfish on the large subsurface WideGlide.
Good luck down there!
best
