Hey Larry The King,
Do those bait stealing dolphins ever get hooked?
Also i noticed Robert Browning had the sweet SPF shirt and sun gloves, do you have any sun block recommendations as they might relate to odor contamination for a freshwater meat fisherman like me?
Long Live Larry,

hi sn
I've heard of it, but never seen it.
Usually the snip it right below the hook.
I once spent a week on hannibal bank where the longest we had a live bonito in the water was about 3 minutes before a dolpin got it.
Sometimes it would take over an hour to catch more bait. They had learned how easy it was to catch the fishermans rigged bonito compared to wild ones and specifically selected those being trolled behind a boat.
When the boats arrived, up came flipper.
All you can do is go somewhere else. Best thing I can think of would be to drag two wires off each side of the boat and connect them to a device similar to what freshwater biologists use to temporarily stun fish for census work. When flipper comes sniffing give him a tickle. I bet he'd learn in three or less encounters! (I left a copy of how to build one with the folks at TS)
good questions.
best,
L
