Hi Larry
Could you suggest a rod, reel, mainline and leader for offshore bottom fishing. I would like to give it a try.

Thanks

Hi A,
I'd suggest a Trevala jigging rod in MH to H action combined with either a Torsa or Trinidad 16 or 20 loaded with 65#-130# sufix braid.
I'd use leaders made of mono, flourocarbon or wire ranging from 40# to 250#. I'd have an assortment of both circle and J hooks ranging in size from 1/0 to 12/0. I use Owners. Might be a good idea to include a few butterfly jigs and assist hooks as well.
Good luck!

Hey Larry, what about targeting Goliath Grouper specifically? I am starting with a Penn 50 VSX and a Penn VS 5010 ARA 5' 6" rod (It was a gift, I know this is Shimanoland - sorry)
