Nomad Trip

Postby Dan Hanon » Wed Feb 01, 2012 8:07 pm

Larry, going on the Nomad next summer casting for GT, doggies, etc. I'm told they provide Shimano 18000SW spinning reels and rods. Question is, any reason I should bring a heavy baitcasting outfit, like a Shimano Tranx? I've never done this type of fishing before.

Thanks,

Dan

Good for you! Get ready for a work out! The tranx would be about the only choice in the baitcasting category I'd even consider for GT's where you're headed.
100 pound line minimum. I'd go with the high speed version.
give my best to Damon and the crew!

I'll need to do some strength and cardio fitness prior, plus take plenty of Ibuprofen! I learned about these guys from the show you did with Patrick. I remember he fished the Splasher with a front assist hook only, looked interesting.
