New Nanifil Line

Postby GaryInHawaii » Tue Jan 10, 2012 2:52 am

Aloha Larry,

I fish primarily for juvenile Giant Trevally (GT) from 1-5 pounds normally. I am thinking of using the new Nanofil Line by Berkeley, and want to know which line-to-line knot you would recommend. I plan to also tie a 3-4-foot fluorocarbon leader in front. My concern is that this new line is very slippery and GTs have a habit of breaking normal knots. I have had success with the uni-to-uni knot, when connecting mono to my PowerPro backing line. As you know, even a 2-pound GT places a lot of strain on light tackle. Your advice is gratefully appreciated. Aloha!

I am not Larry, but I would choose the knot you are familiar with and could tie quickly. I have tried most line to line knots but always come back to the uni to uni. I can tie it with my eyes closed and have never had one slip. Just my opinion.

I'm with SC on the uni to uni for quick strong and simple! Often tie bimini in thinnest line first and treat doubled line as if it were a single strand when tying the knot.
