Flipping for snapper

Larry what is the lightest rod used for grouper and snapper. I took homemade black and blue bass jigs with living rubber, with add rattle and put squid on as trailor and Berkley gulp strips, mr GulpSquid was born. 25lb dolphin fish and 10-15 pound red snapper landed with GLoomis glx flipping stick, shimano chronarch B , 100 feet of 20lb big game mono. The area had 100 ft depth and I was down to spool knot. Fun with high speed reel. I had the advantage with so little line great torque at beginning and speed at the end. I have landed 100 lb string ray on this combo before. I hooked something a lot stronger than 100 lb stingray, did not break rod or reel or line the hook bend 5 degrees after 1 minute stand off at 80 feet. It was swimming reel slow during battle. Southeast NC offshore.

Sounds like you had some fun!! Size of rod, to answer your question, depends on size of fish. Line strength and length more important that stiffness of rod!
